BAY AREA NEIGHBORHOODS

Nestled along nearby North Padre Island, Flour Bluff, Oso Bay, Laguna Madre, downtown Corpus Christi, and, of course, the Gulf of Mexico, Bay Area is a fascinating combination of both a vacation beach neighborhood and an upscale retreat. And while it’s tucked away in a city that’s nearly two centuries old, the area is anything but out-of-date.

Looking out over Corpus Christi Bay, Texas A&M University Corpus Christi anchors Bay Area with its campus of over 12,000 undergraduate and graduates students. As one of two major universities in Corpus Christi, TAMUCC is much to thank for Corpus Christi’s scientific and artistic innovation. Students from all over the world come to TAMUCC to challenge themselves, and many graduates plant their roots in Corpus. They start businesses, join the workforce, and keep Corpus on the cutting edge.

With its relatively modest size, TAMUCC helps maintain the “small town” vibe in Bay Area. Boasting plenty of good eats, small businesses, and public parks, the neighborhood has everything you need within a walkable and bikeable distance. Residents also enjoy taking in shows at the university’s $18 million Performing Arts Center.

Students aren’t the only ones who call Bay Area home. In fact, some of the city’s wealthiest residents can be found right on Ocean Drive. Palm trees and dazzling properties from every decade line this street with an “Old Hollywood feel” as it stretches its way from TAMUCC all the way to Downtown Corpus Christi.

With wide-ranging real estate options; gorgeous, sweeping views of the beach; countless public parks and walking trails; and all the perks of a university, it’s easy to see why so many build their American Dream right here in Bay Area.
